One hot summer evening we climbed up on the wardrobe roof and took a selfie…and here it is in print!

Our green roof has suffered in the heat, but it's coming back to health with the cooler weather.

Extreme gardening
A year ago I planted out the roof garden:
As far as we can work out, we've only lost a few of the 90 odd tubes I planted. The species we've used are:
Echeveria Elegans
Oscularia Deltoides
Sedum Pachyphyllum
Echeveria Violet Queen
Sedum Jelly Bean
Echeveria Glauca
By far the most successful on our exposed west facing roof is the Oscularia and we radically pruned it back to allow the other plants to thrive.
And at Christmas last year it was progressing nicely:
One year after planting, the garden is looking fantastic, if a little overgrown:
And required some high altitude gardening:
Echeveria Elegans
Oscularia Deltoides
Sedum Pachyphyllum
Echeveria Violet Queen
Sedum Jelly Bean
Echeveria Glauca
By far the most successful on our exposed west facing roof is the Oscularia and we radically pruned it back to allow the other plants to thrive.
